NTFS is a file system commonly used by Windows. macOS can usually read NTFS files, but does not provide native write access. Check your drive format in Disk Utility; exFAT and FAT32 generally don’t need an NTFS writing tool.
A read-only NTFS limitation usually does not require formatting. Formatting erases data and should not be treated as an enable-write step. Back up important files before disk operations. Final instructions will be provided at release.
NTFS access depends on the file system, device health and system environment, rather than the brand. Listed brands are examples only, not partners or verified devices. The supported device list will be published at launch.
Select “Show All Devices” in Disk Utility and check ports, cables, adapters and power. Software cannot guarantee recovery from hardware failure, encryption issues or severe file-system damage. Stop using a drive that makes unusual noises and seek professional help.
